Jackie and Bill’s Travel Adventures

This is the post excerpt.

This blog is a new endeavour for us and came about because many people asked us the details of our trips and because others have helped us on our adventures. It seemed like a way to pay forward. Nothing that we include in the blog takes the place of asking for advice from as many sources as you can but we hope that it might help others to appreciate the countries that we visit either vicariously or to encourage them to go on their own adventures.

Travelling on our own has its benefits, such as the flexibility of going and staying when and where we like; it also has its drawbacks, such as anxiety around whether we have booked a nice hotel or not.  We really don’t know if it is less or more expensive than tours, although we do take short tours along the way. Generally, we like this DIY model.

We would be delighted with any feedback on how we might improve our site and/or if we have made errors (which is highly likely).

My husband, Bill Weir, and I have been sailing for only 17 years despite our advanced ages. I started a little earlier because my brother, Steve, was a sailor and I sailed with him. However, we have covered a lot of geography on sailboats: British Columbia, Nova Scotia/Cape Breton, Great Lakes (Ontario, Erie, Huron, Georgian Bay, North Channel), Florida USA, Portugal, Gibraltar, Morocco, British Virgin Islands.

  1. I really enjoyed reading about your adventures. Would love to see a picture of your new red jacket or the clothing that Bill had made. I look forward to following you as you continue to travel the world. Reading about Hong Kong and Vietnam brought back some fond memories …I hope you write about your time in Spain once you get back there again.

    1. Thanks for all your help in planning the trip-invaluable! OK. I’ll add a photo of our new clothes. Now that I have some capacity at blogging, I will write about our trip on our sailboat, Dolphin, from Fifty Point on Lake Ontario to the North Channel, north of Manitoulin and then yes, Spain.
